Mixed Media Tuesday and Tip Tuesday???

Good morning everyone!

I am posting Mixed Media Monday on a Tuesday!!!  Yesterday I was gone and was unable to do my regular post and I LOVE to do the mixed media posts so I am going to do it today AND since it is Tuesday I am also doing 'Tip Tuesday!'
PSA - Yesterday I was doing something that every woman I know hates - I was having my mammogram!  But as you know it is very much needed and could help save your life.  I know they are uncomfortable, and you feel exposed but please ladies do your breast exams and have your mammograms - too many women are losing this battle and I would hate to see any of you suffer through this horrible disease!

Ok onto Mixed Media Tuesday!

These two layouts are real stunners by Lisa Griffith using the Scraps Of Elegance
'Stephanie's Treasure' kit!

She said that had so much fun creating this one and loved how it turned out. As soon as she saw this pretty peach paper called 'Spring Garden 03' by Craft & You, she knew what I wanted to use this vintage beach photo I found on Pinterest.

First she did a lot masking with heavy gesso and then used some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays in peach and bronze, then added the really cool Tim Holtz black rub ons that came in the kit.

When the background was done she added the pretty heart chipboard piece, and then layered on her photos, some flowers, lace, and then lastly some tiny shells that she adhered with clear gel medium.

  now for her second layout.....

This pretty young girl is Lisa's mom when she was in a school uniform!!!

She used the twine and added some cheesecloth under the pretty Prima and Petaloo flowers, and then added a bow made of the ribbon that also came with the kit.  She had heard of Prills but didn't know what they were and now she thinks they are gorgeous and loves the texture that they add, so she used quite a bit of them and some of the little purple gems.

Now I decided to show you two layout by the same designer and using the same kit to show you the versatility of the beautiful Scraps Of Elegance kits!

Tuesday Tip:
This week Wilmas shares a tip about Glossy accents!

'When you use glossy accents , store it upside down during the crafting. In a empty food container or a cup. This way you don't have to wait until it runs to the tip every time.'

Have a wonderful day ladies!

1 kit - 2 different (gorgeous) looks

Unfortunately, Monday is upon us again, but there is a little sunshine:  1.  If you are in the US, a holiday weekend is fast approaching, and 2. We've got two gorgeous layouts to share with you today!

Both of these layout were created with our June Scraps of Darkness "Sindi's Summer Day" kit and add ons.  We still have kits left, so if you haven't picked one up yet, there's still time.

The first layout I'm going to share is pure shabby chic sweetness, and was created by our Design Team Coordinator, Lisa Novogrodski:

Lisa says:  I wanted to do something different than what you would expect with a kit of nature so I went in a shabby chic direction. I had been off in a mixed media direction with my work- very grungy with splatters and paper tearing but honestly I get bored with any one style for long periods of time. It took me a bit to decide what direction to go with this one but I think I nailed it! :)
This beautiful photo is courtesy of "Ali Brown Photography" she has an etsy shop with gorgeous newborn items.

I used the BoBunny "Sweet Life" paper in the background. I kept my mixed media work to a minimum. I just did a little stenciling with paste and some splatters with the Marion Smith Color Lab Sparkling Pigments! These are just gorgeous and are in the Color Add On in our kits!
The beautiful summery ice cream colors of these florals make me swoon! Love the mix of Prima and Petalaoo. With the exception of a few tiny roses all were in our kit's Floral Add On.
I used some chipboard from my stash- Scrap FX  and Dusty Attic. I used the Marion Smith Sparkling Pigments to paint the chipboard then I embossed in areas with Lindy's Byzantine Bronze.

The leaves are stamps and die cuts from Heartfelt Creations.
I also added some book pages torn up and inked for a vintage effect.

Next up is yet another sweet layout, but this one is more of a mixed media style, and was created by Wilma Voermans:

Wilma says:  The June kit made me happy and reminded me of summer feeling.  For this picture I wanted a light cheerful look.  Products used from the main kit:  Background papers, Bee Happy clear stamp, and flowers.

From the Creativity Add On, Wilma used the Sour Apple Shimmerz Dazzlers Dimensional Paint and the Hot Mama Prills by US Artquest.

And from the Color Add On, she used the Shimmerz Coloringz Mist in Keep Palm and the 24 Karat Marion Smith Pigment Powder.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I hope your Monday is a beautiful one.

Shabbylicious!

Good morning everyone!
Yesterday was a big day in our family.  Our youngest graduated grade 8.
He looked so handsome and we are so very proud of him!

I love shabby chic and the ladies on the DT are amazing at it.

Case in point...

Renea created this amazing layout using the Scraps Of Elegance
Stéphanie's Treasures kit.

She started with the wood grain paper from the kit.

She then created some layers underneath the photo by taking more of the kit paper, tearing some corrugated board, then sprinkled the texture paste with some Chunky Glitter Glass.  She then curled the paper randomly around the chipboard for added dimension, and added the photo.

Next she did random curling around the edges, and then layered in some more of gesso, texture paint and Glitter Glass edged corrugated board behind them.
She then dripped some of the Gesso onto the layout and sprinkled it with more of the Glitter Glass.

She created floral sections by adding on the paper doilies from the kit, cheesecloth from her stash, and flowers from this month's floral add on. She dabbed over the large flower with some of the Gesso to soften the color, and then sprayed it with spray adhesive and sprinkled on some Chunky Glitter Glass to add some sparkle and texture.

She then used the Stamp from the Elements Add On, and stamped the corner. She added some silver wire to "hang" two of the little light bulbs from the Elements Add On and then took the ribbon from the kit, tied little bows and topped them with some little hand painted mulberry flowers.

She pleated and tucked in some lace at the torn top and bottom corners of the corrugated board. Added another little light bulb and then inked over a Prima Resin Ballerina.

Now to show you another gorgeous shabby chic layout
This one by Mallika using the same kit!

The background work on her layout is amazing!
I love all the colors and textures.

Here are a few of the yummy details

I love how she used the flowers, doily, key and cheese cloth in the cluster

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Gorgeousness from Anna and Tuesday Tip

Good morning everyone!
We had some violent storms pass through last night!
The lightning was wicked but kind of cool.

Today I am lucky enough to share a gorgeous layout from Anna using the
Scraps Of Elegance 'Stéphanie's Treasure' kit

now for the gorgeous details!

Tuesday Tip;

Water is your friend when you scrapbook!  Not only does it clean your workstation, paintbrushes, and you can't water distress your papers without it!  Also if you have left your wipes open spritz a bit of water to reactivate them.  The same goes for your favorite versa color cube ink pad if you have left the lid off  spritz with a bit of water to make them last a bit longer!

A beautiful Monday!

Good morning friends!
I do not like Mondays but I do love to share the gorgeous creations
from our talented Design Team!!!

Today I am sharing a stunning creation from Tracey G.
using the Scraps Of Darkness
'Sindi's Summer Day'  kit.

Tracey combined the kits papers from BoBunny's "Sweet Life" and Webster's Pages' "Life's Garden" to creqate this beautiful layout of her lovely daughter.  Everything on this page came from the June SOD Kit, the June SOE kit, the April Kit or the SOD store. The store also sells Blue Fern Studio chippies, which she altered with different combinations of gelatos for her page.

she always gets the available Flower-Add on,including these stunning pink beauties fromPetaloo - Textured Elements Burlap Blossoms inFuschia and
the key is from the SOE kit.
After painting the large Blue Fern piece with the Shimmerz - Creameez Paint in Berry Hot, she stamped all over it using Prima - Finnabair Clear Stamps in  Dot Grunge.
she adorned the circle accents on the Blue Fern Piece with Prima brads from the April SOE kit

Now I also get to share a stunning layout from
Lynne using the Scraps Of Elegance 'Stephanie's Treasure' kit!
she randomly punched, tore and inked the edges of the background paper. she added stenciling with texture paste and  punched the round doily. The floral clusters are a combination of flowers, die cut foliage, and images fussy-cut from some of the paper. The pretty curled ribbon was in the kit.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

A Trip to Wonderland

Today I'm sharing a layout I just love.  I generally generally like like layouts with darker, more subtle colors, but every now and then, someone throws me a curve, and does something bright and cheerful that just knocks me off the bench.  This, my friends, is one of those layouts:

Michelle Phillips created this UH-MAZE-ING fantastical journey into Wonderland with our Sindi's Summer Day Kit and add ons.

She started by inking the Webster's Pages Dream in Color "Snuggle" paper that was in the Coordinating Paper Add On, then distressed and layered the Amy Tangerine "Emma" Paper from the Main Kit over it.

She's brought out all the gorgeous colors from the Mad Hatter photo she chose onto her layout, using the Petaloo burlap butterflies and flowers from the Floral Add On, added one of the Amy Tangerine tags from the main kit.

The yellow heart pick is from the Prima Valentina Flowers in the Floral add on, and she added one of the Petaloo mini butterflies from the Elements Add On, inked one of the Studio Calico wood hearts from the main kit and added that, along with one of the black and white buttons from the main kit.

She used more of the buttons and the Studio Calico wood arrows throughout the layout, and topped it all off with the Queen & Co. blue bubble dots from the Elements Add On, and finished it all off with some stencil work, using the Amy Tangerine stencils from the Elements Add On.

We still have some of these kits and add ons available in our store (just click on the Available Kits category), so if you would like to create your own magical journey on paper, be sure to grab them before they are gone...

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you are all having a beautiful weekend!
