Revisting the Wayfarer kit - Monica's fabulous vintage layout

Hello Crafty Friends!
I hope this finds you doing well. I using the July "Wayfarer" Kit from Scraps of Darkness. What a treat this is!

I'm back again with a look back at older Hot Springs. I found this picture on Pinterest. This was a grand grand hotel back in the day. It sat in a state of disrepair for a long time. Then this was this horrendous fire. They have only just recently demolished it. Now where once this statement of grandeur stood... is now a lovely lawn and they hold movies in the park during the summers.
I am so enjoying using these Blue Fern Studio papers.. I love love love how thick they are. I'm not afraid to product on them!! I hardly have to put product on them because they are designed so beautifully.

Here is The Majestic.....

Here are a few close ups. I still think these chippies from Blue Fern Studios that came in the kit are adorable. I've tried to use them sparingly.

Here you can see I used some more of the 49 and Market gorgeous embellishments!! I'll hate to use up the last of these.

Here you can see I used some German Glitter Glass Ice Resin that can be found in our store.

We look forward to seeing your creations with our kits.

Revisiting the Wayfarer kit - Kathy's beautiful fishing layout

I'm back today with a project using the fabulous Scraps of Darkness July kit "Wayfarer".  The photos in the layout were taken about 6 years ago and feature my son, Patrick and oldest grandson, Chase at Montana Creek, north of Anchorage.  Chase is about 15 months in this photo, and it was his first trip to the river.  His middle name is Fisher to represent the fisherman we hope he will be.  My son is an avid fisherman.  He knows exactly what bait, weight, and way to cast that pole.  He should be able to!!!  He has been fishing in the Alaska waters his whole life.  These are very touching photos to my heart!

The background paper is from Blue Fern Studio (BFS) and is included in the Coordinating Paper Add On.  I used it because of little bird at the bottom and the fabulous colors.  I did some stamping, stenciling, and inking around the photos.

I cut a piece of green cardstock to mat the burlap square which is included in the Main Kit.  I also used a circle chipboard from BFS that came in May's Scraps of Darkness kit.  I spent a lot of time on the treatment of this chipboard.  I used the Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint in "Picket Fence" to create the gorgeous crackles.  Then I applied about 4 different Distress inks blending them into the cracks of the paint.  So much fun!

I placed one of the BFS chipboard border pieces from the Main Kit at the bottom of the photos.  I also used another chipboard with the image of Huckleberry Finn going fishing.  Thought it was a perfect for the theme of the photos.  The tall skinny flower on the chipboard is a die cut from the Prima Ephemera in the Main Kit.

I fussy cut the Lupine flower stalks from the Vintage Artistry, "Floral and Fauna" paper from 49th and Market, which is included in the Coordinating Paper Add On.

I then created the floral clusters on each side of the photos using tons of flowers from different previous kits from Scraps of Darkness and Scraps of Elegance.  I tucked in some of the 49th and Market leaf and dragonfly embellishments from the Elements Add On. And, finally added some seed beads to add texture.

This was a fun layout to make.  I think it was the colors and all the wonderful embellishments I was able to use.  More inspiration can be found on this blog from our fabulous Design Teams.  I hope you will check back.  Till next time......Hugs!
Kathy

A Women's 5K Classic Multi Photo layout - August Sparkle and Shine kit

Hi Everyone!

It's Sharon here to share another layout that I made with the August Scraps of Darkness "Sparkle and Shine" kit! It's simply fabulous - I had so much fun creating this page using the main kit and add-ons.

I decided to scrap some photos that were taken at the Women's 5K Classic last year since there is a lot of the color pink in this kit.

Here's my page:

I used a grid design in order to get 4 photos from the event on my page.  I featured the paper "Wonderful" and "Be Amazing" from Simple Stories' Beautiful collection included in the main kit.

Here are some close ups:

Please take a minute to check out the Scraps of Darkness store to see this month's kit:

Happy Family Layouts - August Sparkle and Shine kit

Good morning!  Laura here!

I am back today to share  a sweet layout I did of an 'ussie' of our youngest and I taken at Canada's Wonderland while we were waiting  for my hubby and oldest son to get off one of those crazy rides....
I created this using the 'Sparkle and Shine' kit

The awesome Prima papers were perfect for layering!!!

I created a cluster with flowers from the main kit and floral add on and a chipboard flourish that I had in my stash!

I used three of Prima tapes to frame the photo!  The tapes are so cool!

I created the title using the stickers!  Perfect title!
Now to share my final layout using the awesome Sparkle and Shine kit!

For this one I used the fabulous 'Beautiful' line from Simple Stories.

I used the flowers from the main kit and the floral add to frame the photo.  I also built a matting for the photo from pieces of the wonderful paper

I used the Simple Stories Beautiful Bits & Pieces diecuts from the main kit to create my title

Mixed Media Monday - July Country Chic kit

Hello crafters, Lisa here to share another layout made with the
Scraps of Elegance kit called 'Country Chic'.

'I believe in fairytales..'

I started with the beautiful navy blue paper by 49 & Market called 'Fresh Delivery', and then layered on some torn pieces of the paper 'Cottage Life' and then stenciled on
some birds with white gesso, added some watercolors to my background, and then I layered on some pieces of the cotton lace from the main kit that I had torn up.  From there I added some flowers from my stash and a few of the paper clay
pieces that I created with the clay and molds in the Creativity Add On.
I love how it all turned out :)

Here are some close ups:

I love the Blue Fern Studios glitter 'Gulf Coast' in the Elements Add On, although
it never quite sparkles in my photos as it does in real life! I also used some of the 49 & Market 'Cottage Life' Layered Embellishments.

I took this butterfly from a Tim Holtz ephemera pack from one of our past kits as the colors fit perfectly. I also used the 49 & Market paper roses, and the pearl pins from the Main Kit.

See you soon,
Lisa xo

Two Super Sweet layouts - August Sparkle & Shine Kit

Welcome!

Kerstin is back with a new layout for the August
Scraps of Darkness Sparkle & Shine Kit.

- Fly -
Today  you can see how easy it is to create with our month kit's.
The Kit's are so arranged that all the components fit well in color and style.

I used a Prima Marketing background paper from Prima's Rose Quartz Collection, stickers, black tags and the beautiful roses from this collection.
In our Elements Add On Kit you will find book pages Ephemera: Music, an amazing crochet trim, cardstock stickers and this awesome feathers, which I also used in my last layout 'Smile often'.

some close up's

Have you seen the 'Grace' sheet from Rose Quartz Collection, perfect for cutting out, or?!
together with some deco elements a wonderful addition to a black and white photo.

I still had a rest from this delicate feather and so I used a puffy sticker butterfly and the feather for a new smart highlight on this layout.

- Sunflowers -

I love sunflowers, they grow every year in my garden almost by themselves.

I used the paper sheet 'Stone Quartz' from Prima's Rose Quartz Collection, a wonderful contrast to the yellow flowers. So you can find in my layout only three colours black, yellow, white and metalic gold. I always love to use some products from 'older' SOD kits too, for instance chipboards, flowers and leaves.

I have also used a stencil from Kaisercraft with white modeling paste and golden metallic wax  in background it looks like some grasses.
The circle chipboard from Blue Fern Studios was in older SOD Kit.

some close up's

leaves are cutting dies - Thinlits Sizzix - surrounded with Gold Calligraphy Paint Marker

'Today' cardboard sticker stamped with a crackle clear stamp from Kaisercraft

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate :-)

I hope you like this inspiration
and all the other wonderful projects of our teamies!

Have a nice day my friends!

A beautiful pink travel layout - August Sparkle and Shine Kit

Hi! Dana here today sharing another layout that I created with the Scraps of Darkness August Sparkle and Shine Kit. Several of the patterned papers from the Prima Rose Quartz and Simple Stories Beautiful collections had me thinking of geodes and marble. These prints reminded me of a photo I took this Summer of Arch Rock on Mackinac Island in Michigan. This landmark is a natural limestone formation and is absolutely beautiful in real life.

I used one of the maps from the Prima Rose Quartz Beautiful Glory patterned paper (Main Kit) as a base for my photo. I added orange and green to this color palette with sheets of Art-C Ephemera, Simple Stories Clear Stickers, and Prima Traveler's Tape, which are all included in the Elements Add-On.

No layout for me is really complete without flowers. I added a small pink bloom from the Floral Add-On to the corner of my photos. I also added some black and white flowers that I cut from the Simple Stories Simply Wonderful patterned paper (Main Kit).

I'm really loving the versatility of the products in this kit. I've created a fun mix of both clean and simple and shabby chic designs. If you missed my previous projects, click on the following links:
